Preparing for Installation
Hardware Tools Recommended for System Installation
• All of the tools below are recommended during a FX II installation.
• It is always a good idea to install, initialize, and test the FX II system before transporting it to
the installation site.
• Comdial includes all the necessary screws for system and board installation for the FX II.
Hardware Tools Listing
Round-head wood screws
(typically 1/4 x 1–inch)
To mount equipment cabinet to backboard.
Round-head wood screws
(typically 1/4 x 1 ½–inch)
To mount backboard to wall studs; longer screws are
necessary if fasteners must also pass through a dry-wall
covering.
Cross-recessed screwdriver
(#2 Phillips-head type)
To match flat head screws that attach universal
mounting brackets to cabinet.
Electric drill If prepared holes are required.
Connecting tool To fasten wires to a type-66 connector block.
Crimping tool For 623-type modular plugs.
Static discharge and conductive floor mat
Grounding Considerations
• Circuit boards for the Impact FX II system are susceptible to damage caused by electrostatic
discharge, and you must keep this fact in mind as you handle the system backplane and line
and station circuit boards.
• Refer to the Comdial publication IMI01-005,” Handling Of Electrostatically Sensitive
Components” for general information specific handling precautions are also included in this
installation instruction.
• Note that if a static discharge wrist strap and conductive floor mat are not available, you must
take precaution of discharging any electro-static build up by touching a grounded metal
cabinet or power supply.
Environmental and Mounting Conditions for Systems
• You must select a suitable location to mount the FX II system. A suitable location must be
chosen based on the following requirements:
